TROOP TRIBUNE

MAR/APR 2004

Scoutmaster’s Corner

Greetings to all Scouts & Families.  Here we are already in the month of March.  Our Troop is growing, for new Webelos will be joining us shortly.  A special comment and request to all our Scouts.  Practice SCOUT SPIRIT with the troop 464 members by showing them around and making them feel comfortable and welcome.  Learn their names, and most importantly, make sure they know your name.

Lots of activities with the Troop, so jump on board.

Alex Balian, Scoutmaster

As a reminder, I have the uniform exchange bag, so if your Scout has recently

grown (what a shock), see me.  We might have a shirt (doubtful) or pants/shorts that your Scout can use.  There is obviously no charge; we just ask that when your Scout outgrows his uniform you contribute it to our uniform exchange program.

If you need an update on where we are going and when, check out the website calendar, Karen does a terrific job in keeping it up to date.  Go to www.Troop464.com.

Eagle Project – see the enclosed flyer for Blake’s Eagle Project.  Eagle Projects are a great opportunity for the entire family to get to know the Troop and contribute to a worthy project at the same time.  Besides, if Corky and Patty are cooking – the food will be great!  Sign up with Blake ASAP.

Time sure flies when you are having fun, doesn’t it.  The Canoga Park Parade is upcoming, May 31.  So, those of you with motorcycles – start practicing your riding skills.  Remember last year we won 1st place in the Motorcycle Club, and we have the trophy to prove it!  If you need to borrow a motorcycle, see me.  You’ll need parental approval first.  For you fundraising supporters out there, we will be having our next Silhouette outing on May 8th and 9th (Mother’s Day, wouldn’t you know it).  We get to shoot the new rifles again, and hopefully have new winners in the shooting competition.  In the whole year we have done this, only one kid has won twice; every other time it has been a new winner.  Sign up early for this outing; we have been doing very well with 9 kids and 4 adults.  Last time we set (February), our kids earned $450 for the Troop and the full time Scout setters earned $52 for themselves in tips from the very generous shooters.  We brought back over $800 combined funds for the kids and the Troop.  Not bad for a fun outing.  See me to sign up.
