Flags on Graves – One of the Troop’s activities for May is the Memorial weekend Flags on Graves event.  We will be placing flags on the graves of men and women who gave their lives in the fight for our country’s freedom.  We will be meeting at 6:15 am at Joann’s parking lot.  Everyone must be in full Class A uniform – no exceptions!

There is an opportunity afterwards to go to Castle Park for miniature golf and lunch.  (You do not have to attend this activity if you do not wish to do so.  But you must attend the Flags on Graves ceremony to go golfing.)  The cost will be approximately $10-$20.  We should be returning to Joann’s around 1 pm .  Please see Dave Ballew or myself with any questions.

Enclosed are several important handouts.  The first is a reminder about Jared’s Eagle Project this weekend, May 15.  The following week-end is Elan’s Eagle Project.  Please see these Scouts ASAP to let them know if you are able to contribute to their projects.  Remember, these projects are not only for the Scouts, their entire families can contribute their time.

Also included is a flyer inviting each Scout and their families to Scott & Chris’ Eagle Court of Honor.  Please reserve the day and RSVP as soon as possible.
   For those attending
Camp Whitsett this summer, enclosed is a medical form as well as a statement of your account.  I have last year’s medical forms, but if your Scout is due for a current medical, please schedule your doctor’s appointment soon.  Note that the Class 1 Section, release of minor, photo release, permission to treat, parental firearms consent, and consent to full program must be completed annually. If your Scout is participating in a High Adventure type program rather than working on Merit Badges, you must have the Class 3 physical completed rather than the Class 1.   This really isn’t as confusing as it may sound; see me or Karen if you have any questions.  Please complete these forms and return them to me at your earliest convenience.
I have tried to list every payment and credit, please verify my records and notify me if I have made a mistake.  Please note that the final payment is due 5/15.  I have been nagging the Scouts for the past several meetings, so hopefully this is not a surprise.  If you anticipate having a problem meeting the 5/15 payment deadline, please let me know.  We still have a couple of spots, but will cancel our openings in the next couple of weeks.  If your Scout would like to participate, please contact me immediately.  My work number is (818) 587-9307.

Advancements – Thanks again to all who helped out with our advancement night – without your assistance I don’t know how we could pull it off.  With summer camp right around the corner it is important that you bring your books to the meetings.  I need to have all of your information entered so I know what you need to work on at camp.  There is always some sort of Trail to First Class session in addition to merit badges to be worked on, so there will be lots of opportunities for advancement.  Don’t forget those books!
